I love my blog sisters. You have gently reminded me that it’s been a while since I’ve blogged and encouraged me to post something now. What I love is that the primary motivation is that you miss one another and want to catch up. It’s amazing the bonds that are built through online connection. They are REAL!
So, why have I not posted? Many of you know I tend to take blog breaks as a book deadline approaches. For the first time, I not only have a book deadline, but weekly teaching responsibilities at my local church. (We’ve been walking through the book of Ephesians.). When I’m not writing, I’m studying/preparing to teach. When I’m not studying/preparing to teach, I’m writing. I also have a high school junior who’s homeschooling, and I’m gearing up for rich and meaty studies with him—which also take time to prepare.
All of this—and more, trust me on that—means I’ve been delinquent in answering emails, voicemails, texts, etc. . . . and blog delinquent as well. When I thought about posting a quick blog, I didn’t want it to be a bunch of excuses about why I hadn’t blogged. But that’s what it’s turning into! :-) Honestly though, I couldn’t not explain why I’ve been away. We’re blog sisters, after all. And we’re catching up.
It hasn’t been all work and no play though! Most Friday nights are family movie nights at home, and Bill and I have been trying to be consistent about weekly date nights. Also, he and I spent a few days in Vancouver earlier this month to celebrate our 20th anniversary (which was earlier this year). The scenery, the weather, the extended couple-time . . . all of it was beautiful! My favorite part was rising early and walking down by the water with my Bible for alone-time with God. I needed to seek Him, be with Him, away from everything else in life. There’s nothing sweeter than sitting in His presence as He tends to and speaks to your soul.
I could say so much more, but it’s your turn. What have you been up to? Let’s catch-up!
