IMAGE (pt. 4): Rock the External
We’ve come to the end of the image series <sniff, sniff>. The intentional focus forced me to think a lot about image, lies I’ve believed, and areas in which my mind needed to be renewed. It also helped me to not need people’s approval—and I had a good week to put it into practice with my cut. :)
During the other weeks of the series, as we looked inward, many of you dropped comments like, “But I do value my outward appearance and try to look nice.” Or “I think both the inward and the outward are important.” I smiled because I knew we’d have ample opportunity to dish about it in the final week.
Our outward appearance is important. We’re walking representatives of our Lord. We want to bring Him glory in all we do, which includes how we present ourselves. When we think about the outward, we might tend to think more about what not to wear. After all, in our culture, we’re bombarded with images of clothing that leave next-to-nothing to the imagination.
But I thought it would be fun to focus on and celebrate the freedom in our choices. Among this blog group alone, I’m sure there’s a great spectrum. We could walk into a mall, and we’d each know which store caters to our particular style, from clothing to shoes to makeup . . . all of it reflecting the uniqueness of how God created us.
So let’s talk about rocking the external. After you watch the video HERE or below, let’s discuss the following:
Do you enjoy rocking the external? Do you keep it simple when it comes to appearance—whether clothing, hair, jewelry, makeup, shoes—or do you have a flair for fashion?
Do you (especially single sisters) ever deal with comments from others about how you should dress, like the woman mentioned in the video? And for married sisters, do you give time and attention to your appearance still (and would your husband agree :-))?

i love this!
Hey Lisa! Thanks!!! :)
I used to be much better being stylish. I think I need to get back to where I used to be; modest, but with flair :)
Hey Iris! Totally identify….being at home most of the time has made me lazy about style :-) but I want to ramp it up again….with flair!!
Amen to both of you! I’ll “third” this idea!!!
“Don’t cheapen the Glory!” LOVE IT!!!! As you know, I didn’t care about how I looked because my heart was broken and jacked up. I am really blessed to sit up under some modest, stylish Titus 2 women. My pastor’s wife is very stylish, but very modest. I learn a lot from her and from some others at my church. Like I’ve heard my pastor say “long skirts don’t make you holy. Your spirit and lifestyle are what make you holy.” Some women dress the holy part but are FAR from holy!
I am just now finding my style but I have always loved a nice pants suit with pumps! I also like blazers. I feel so strong when I wear a blazer. LOL I’ve also come to like accessories too. It’s fun getting to know my own style and I do believe in modesty. I am also starting to like pantyhose again because there are some really stylish pantyhose out here now.
This was a fun blog and I do think that married women should ROCK IT for their husbands. I told God one day “God, I don’t ever want to forget what it was like being single because I don’t want to take my marriage or my husband for granted.” I am going to enjoy rocking it for my husband because “rocking it” is becoming an everyday thing for me as a single woman–and not because I’m waiting for a man. But, because I refuse to continue to “cheapen the Glory!” :)
“Don’t cheapen the Glory!”…..love the way you summed that up and wishing I’d done a graphic for it!!! lol SO cool that you sit under “modest, stylish Titus 2 women”….(love the way you put that too)…and your pastor is so right! Nothing external makes you holy. That’s why our main focus in the image study had to be the inside. When the inside is on track, you can rock the outside in Christ!
I’m loving that you’re finding your style! Go, Tam, go, Tam! lol See, this is what I meant about all of us having different styles because after I left work over a decade ago, I said I never wanted to see another pair of pantyhose as long as I lived! LOL But hmm…there’s some new styles out there, huh? :) I can see you now in a pants suit with a blazer and pumps….rockin it!!!
“…not because I’m waiting for a man. But, because I refuse to continue to ‘cheapen the Glory!’”….YESSSS! Amen! You got me excited over here!
Yes, there are new styles! My First Lady can rock some pantyhose! I, on the other hand, stayed away from them because I used to always get the color wrong! LOL I couldn’t figure out which color went right. SO, I started paying attention to women who wore them. That’s how I learned what went best. I used to have this one suit…..girl!!!! When I wore THAT suit, couldn’t nobody tell me NOTHING!!!! I was blessed with a gray pinstriped skirt suit but I have NO shoes to go with it. I’m just waiting on the shoes! Now that my inside is FULL of glory, I am bursting at the seams with excitement about rocking it on the outside.
Now, I would LOVE to see you in one of your suits. I wonder what you were like as an attorney. That will be fascinating for me to hear! I guess I just have to ask Treva.
Hey Kim! Another good one! I laughed at the part where church folk told the single girl she didn’t “look Christian”….what DOES a Christian look like?!? People are funny – I agree that rockin’ our stylish selves is just fine for us Daughters, and there is no “right” way to do it (within reason, of course)…..
Yep, I need to break out of my homebody rut of yoga pants and t-shirts and ponytails….I’ve decided that I am going to go get my hair cut as a first step; it’s desperately needed! :) I was doing much better with rockin’ the style until I got pregnant, and now I just want to live in my stretch pants and Bavin’s big t-shirts. One thing at a time….
Anyways, I think this was very on-time. It IS ok to look nice and stylish; I do miss the days of putting on my work clothes/suits/etc and heading to the office. I’m actually at a work training this week, and it’s been refreshing to pull out my “work stuff” for a few days! It does spark things up when we wives take the time to put ourselves together, even if our husbands (Bavin, this means you!) don’t say anything…they do notice! :)
Thanks for the inspiration, Kim!
Hey Danielle! I know!….where is THE Christian we’re supposed to look like?? Hey, you get ALL KINDS of leeway/excuses/pardons while pregnant….and many months after! ROCK YOUR YOGA PANTS, GIRL! lol But if you’ve been wanting a hair cut, it’ll probably make you feel nice and stylish. :D
It’s funny, I don’t miss my work clothes at all….the suits, etc. But I do like to get dressed for special events. And Bill and I have been making a point of doing regular dates, so even if it’s an afternoon movie, I try to take the extra step of looking nice….okay, *nicer* than the regular ol’ sweatpants. LOL Yep, they notice!
So thrilled for you and your family. Rock it with baby in tow, Danielle!!!
Danielle, don’t forget what we said about your anniversary! Dress up “wedding day pretty” for you boo! Watch his reaction. It will be priceles!
I am planning something…..and since the baby bump will be gone by then, too, I’ll do it up in a cute outfit also! :)
Good evening, Kim…
Well…I’ve lost 50 1bs in the last few years so clothes finally fit me again :) and I do love fashion — I get that from my Grandmother who really should have been a fashion designer and an interior designer (if you go to my pintrest page — which I rarely visit) you’ll see I got that interest from her too…anywho…I love fashion but I’m at home most of the time and I wear the saaammmeee thing every single day (and I am so comfy and quite like it thank you very much).
And I rarely wear make up unless I am going out…or if my husband is home.
Frank travels a lot and commutes right now to another city so he’s usually home onlya few days a week. When he is home I wear make up, do my hair and try to look pretty (frankly, when I was pregnant with our first I was almost 100 1bs more than I am now and the man still told me I was beautiful…so….???).
I love classic fashion, no frills or fou fou stuff (I like that kind of fashion on others but not me)(but I do like bling somewhere on my person :) ). I LOVE jeans (because I couldn’t get any to fit for so many years) and a sweater or a pretty silk blouse. I love shoes, shoes, shoes (again from my Grandmother) but I wear the same ones all the time and ususally there is no heel — it just hurts too much to wear the ones I love…so I live vicariously through my youngest who also inherited Grandma Behr’s sense of style and flair and can wear those heels like nobodies business.
Funny thing…over the last year or two God has been giving me such a contentment with what I have that I don’t even like shopping (gasp!). I just seem to have everything I need and now I just need to start wearing it with some pizazz for the joy of my guy and the delight of my King.
BIG thing though — I need to be sure that I don’t become consumed by the fashion monster (which I could if I wanted to — I’m glad I’m getting free of that but still being able to enjoy what I have and God says “you go girl” to.).
Bless you, Kim and all my beautiful blog sisters.
Love that you did this series Kim!!
hugs
And p.s. I’m frustrated with my hair right now. It’s not co-operative. Sigh.
Good evening Debbie!! Woohoooo….50 pounds!!!!! Rock it, Debbie!!! (I’m so serious….I’m *happy shoulder dancing* for you…lol) You remind me of myself….I love fashion but I’m a homebody so I bum-out (just made that up) and rarely wear makeup unless I’m going somewhere (I have an excuse now for the videos, tho!). AND, I love classic fashion too…I look for just the right pieces that’ll last….AANNNDD (told ya we had stuff in common) although I don’t wear flats when I’m going out, I don’t wear high, high heels because it hurts my feet too.
LOVE that you ROCK IT when hubby’s home! Go, Debbie! And what a sweetheart he is! I’m sure his loving encouragement makes you *want* to go the extra mile in looking good for him. That’s beautiful! Also, so special that you and your daughter took after your Grandma Behr’s sense of style and flair. Now that’s a legacy! Love it!
Bless you too, Debbie! This series has blessed me from beginning to end, and you all are the biggest reason why. Thoroughly enjoyed this IMAGE journey and totally planning to live out all that we’ve learned together. Love you all!
My word! I’m going to really have to check out this series. My Bible study has recently gone over the Story of Leah, and it really helped me realize I’ve been feeling a lot like Leah, a bit unloved and very not pretty. I’ve been really unhappy with my looks and it’s created a cycle that is annoying myself as well as my husband. Sometimes I blame my natural hair and would like a dose of Soft and Beautiful. My recent move to California, land of the lovely, has me rethinking my entire wardrobe. It’s been one thing after the other. So anyway, Leah’s story is helping me to realize that God made me me and His plan for my life is what is important.
In addition to all that, while I’m working on not letting my spurts of disdain for my physical appearance affect me I have to say that some earing, a cute headband, and some lip gloss when I wanna feel fancy!
Trisa…..PLEASE check out this IMAGE series (including the comments on the blog posts). I don’t say that because it’s my videos or blog. I say that because it was a total God thing to do this (watch the 1st video I did, “Natural Hair: Image and the Big Chop” to get the background) and because God has been ministering to me through this and through the women who’ve been participating on the blog. I can totally see how a move to California, around all the “beautiful people” (to the world’s way of thinking) would give the enemy more fodder to assault your mind. He knows you’re fearfully and wonderfully made and that you can’t help but be special because the God of the Universe created you! Reject the enemy’s thinking (that’s all it is) and see yourself through God’s eyes. The 1st video in the Image series is “Reject the Lies”….please watch. :) Praying right now for you, sis. So glad you posted. God knew the community of women you needed to surround you. :D ((((HUGS))))
Yes, what Kim said…watch this series and I encourage you to read the posts from the other sisters. It will inspire you.
ALTHOUGH WE’VE COME TO THE ENNND OF THE ROAD (SERIES)…. Yeap drawing a lil inspiration from Boys to Men this morning lol. I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! I love how you put that the outward is just as important as the inward because they both reflect God’s glory. So many times I forget this or don’t think to put it together. Also it is so true that because we are uniquely made our styles are unique to each of us! Love the Reminder Kim!!!
Well being a single lady my friends do tell me “Fefe wear something a lil sexier sugar mama.” Sometimes they even bring outfits to me that make me wonder “who done it and why”. I think it’s hilarious and thoughtful yet I know me and my style. I also know the man I marry will appreciate my style and me being myself and not some carbon copy of what my friends think. SOOO what exactly is my style? Well I love colors for sure and a few bold prints. I love the pinks, purples, red etc. I love flowy/girly stuff. Jeans are my best friend especially the darker washed ones. I love flats if you put me in heels someone will be falling down hurt (probably me and whoever I take out on the way down ). I also love jewelry I am a big fan of pearls, hoops, and any other “blinged” out accessories. I tend to keep it simple and modest in whatever I wear. I do dress most days in my comfy t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes while going to class unless I’m feeling the need to dress it up for the day. Overall I do my best to ROCK IT and glorify my king while waiting on my future boo Thanks once again for this series Kim love you and all you fabulous divas out there!!! SMOOCHES
Hey Felecia! I used to love that song! In fact it was in my head last week for some reason, so I totally smiled when I saw it in your comment. :D Wow, so your friends tell you that too, huh? Interesting! I wonder if people realize what clothing says about them. There are a lot of image issues around women wanting/needing to look sexy (and not for their husbands)…but that would have to be a whole ‘nother series! :) Yes, your husband will appreciate your style. He’ll be drawn to the person you are in Christ. And I love your style! “I love flowy/girly stuff”…very cool! I see you’re not into high heels, like Debbie and I. :) And “blinged” out accessories are always fun! “Overall I do my best to ROCK IT and glorify my king while waiting on my future boo”….go, girl!!! So thankful for your input during this series. Love you too, my fabulous diva sis!
Felicia, I love that song too! It was the last song they played at my junior prom, and I got to dance with the guy I had had the BIGGEST crush on! :) Memories……that song is a classic!
I DO like to Rock It! In my own style. :) Remember, I told you that I am 44 and divorced and at times consumed by the thought that I will only find love again at a size 6 with perky boobies (both of which I cannot claim)?! I would say I am on the conservative side (no cleavage displayed for public viewing) and wear appropriate jeans (no mom jeans), but I do NOT like baggy clothes and smock dresses. NO WAY!! I love that you pointed out that we can still honor God in our own style! It’s important for me to present myself in a way that pleases myself and honors God at the same time. And yes, people do suggest I flaunt more to attract men, but those are not the men I want anyways. This was a great series; I can’t wait for your next one (hint hint). God bless you and your family always ! xo
Hey Jenni! Love that you like to Rock It!….especially since we’re about the same age. We’ve still got lots of Rock It in us! :D I’m not into mom jeans either ;)….I love wearing nice jeans when I’m going out and dressing them up. Smock dress….eww. lol But now, if sweatpants come within the realm of “baggy clothes,” I’m guilty as charged right where I sit. :) But if I’m going “out,” no….baggy is out. “And yes, people do suggest I flaunt more to attract men, but those are not the men I want anyways”….so you get that from people too! That’s exactly what I’m saying….those are not the men you want. If the man is only drawn by lots of skin…..he can keep steppin’. Love your input and so thankful for your encouragement about the series. “I can’t wait for your next one (hint hint)”….I’m thinking God might have something in mind. ;) Blessings to you and yours as well! xo
Rock it Jenni!
You know, I have more confidence in myself at size 18 than I did when I was an 8, 10, etc… This is a true testament that image is built on the inside. I recently got a first hand account of what attracts a TRULY Godly man–your spirit. It was beautiful!
People treat you how you dress, sad but true. I remember going to a place with jeans and a shirt and was treated okay. But I went back to the same place with a suit on and yup, I was suddenly “ma’am” LOL
Hey Family! I have so enjoyed this series. A big thank you to everyone who has shared her story, her wisdom, and her praise. Our discussions and all of the beautiful discoveries have been fruitful…especially to this pilgrim. What began in the way of examination has ended with empowerment. I do so love adventures like that. Only God could time and put together something like this. So needed. Praise Him!
Okay on to the questions.
1) Yes, I do enjoy rocking the external. With that said, my version of rocking it is uniquely me. For sure! While I love flash flair with lipsticks, hats, and shoes (although it’s been a minute since I’ve done this), I love, love, love my Laura Ingalls look. Yep! Long skirts, flowery and plain cotton tops (fitted, of course), and simple accessories. And jeans…you know boot cut denims and jeans for men are the way to go. Sure, I know how to glam it up, but I prefer comfort and movement in my day-to-day look. I will say this as it relates to natural hair and my overall external presentation, I can be as radical as I want to be with my hair and work it, rock it, and do my thing with more confidence than I ever had with my perm. (The confidence and ease to rock it have come with spiritual maturity (with integrity), Spirit-lessons related to godly humility, and age. On another note, the 40-club is a whole ‘nother level when it comes to living. What! Any witnesses?
2a) Regarding comments from others, I have heard some interesting ones, however, I can’t say they carried any weight with me. But everybody, it would seem, has an opinion about how “leadership wives” should dress. God bless them.
2b) When my mom, truly one of my best and closest friends, recently shared with me how I should think about the way I dress for my husband, I finally heard her. ;-) Being married for close to 15 years, one can kind of go there, and sometimes not in a good way, with everything from your favorite shoes to your favorite undergarments (well somebody had to say it). Ha! This year, I am “releasing” my grannies. Woo! Bring on the liberation!
(Kim, I started to link a video response instead, but today is not the day. It’s coming though. It will be my RELEASE graduation gift. I ain’t playing, sis. This journey is for real. Thank you for being a vessel.)
Biggest Hugs to All!
HOLLERING ABOUT THE GRANNIES!!!!!!!!!! Rolling over here!!!! That is truly one of the joys of being single…I don’t have to get rid of mine just yet. But I’m ready though!
You know we keep it real in this house. Love ya, girl!
We sure do! And that was so real. LOL
Hey Kim! Woo, love this!….”What began in the way of examination has ended with empowerment.” Yes!!! I hadn’t thought about it that way, but I feel the same way! And amen, ONLY God could’ve put this together and indeed I PRAISE HIM!
Okay, so I learned something new about you!….you love the Laura Ingalls look! And I totally have the vision because years ago we watched the ENTIRE series as a family. :) I know you look too darling with this look. “Sure, I know how to glam it up, but I prefer comfort and movement in my day-to-day look”…me all the way. Even a skirt and simple top is too “glam” for my day-to-day. hehe But now that I want to join you in the natural hair “work it, rock it, and do my thing with more confidence,” I might need to step up my game. :D “On another note, the 40-club is a whole ‘nother level when it comes to living. What! Any witnesses?” *raises hand* Girl, I’m now closer to 50 than 40, so I’m talking a WHOLE ‘nother level! But as you indicated, there’s nothing like godly humility and godly confidence. I’m looking forward to continued growth. This year has already been growth-filled….AND IT’S ONLY JANUARY!
“Regarding comments from others, I have heard some interesting ones, however, I can’t say they carried any weight with me”….I don’t know why that cracked me up. Go ‘head, girl. Shake the dust right off your feet and keep rockin’ it!
But that did NOT crack me up as much as THIS….”This year, I am “releasing” my grannies”….haaaaa!!!! Yes, somebody had to say it. And we all nod with understanding. I’m STILL chuckling. Grannies are grannies cuz they’re comfortable! What’s that you say? It’s not all about comfort? It’s about rockin’ it for our husbands? Oh. Okay. I just love y’all. Sisters for real! :D
You know I was “fixin’” to ask about the video response. :) I ain’t playing either and will continue to be on the lookout. ;) RELEASE graduation gift….we shall all be celebrating!!! Hugs to you, dear sis!
…what??? gotta give up grannies…uh oh :) (just kidding…or am I????)
:-D
Hahaha… I see this one is something we can all relate too. Too funny. I think we should write a humorous guide called the “Granny” Chronicles. Oh the stories we would tell.
Love ya!
Agreed. Gotta rock it for our husbands. That’s like a top 10 rule or something. Still, it’s possible to rock it and be comfortable at the same time. I am a firm believer.
One day let’s have some fun and list some top 10 tips for dating and top 10 tips for rocking it while married. You game?
Just having a spot of fun. :-)
Every time I read the granny comment, I just start laughing. I prefer comfort and I am SO happy that right now, I don’t have to give mine up. 1st entry in the Granny Chronicles: My daughter asked me why did I wear such big underwear. I looked at her, looked “back at it” looked at her again and said “girl, I got way too much to be putting on some lil old bitty draws!” Yup, said it just like that! She laughed and nodded with a new understanding!
Entry #2, the Granny Chronicles…
“When the elastic starts to show, I think it’s time to let them go…” (You can’t even rock it a little bit with this one. Wisdom there is in this one. – Yoda K)
Lol.
Not even a teensie weensie bit! LOL
Lol!!! Workout clothes wearing kind of girl is Soooo me! My husband tells me that he loves me in sweat clothes so I have a hard time pushing myself past that! However, even with that, I do notice that when I do change it up for no reason He loves that surprise too! It’s funny Tamara mentioned pantyhose, because that has been my latest venture…all these different patterns are really cute and sassy! So I tried one pair and of course my husband loved them! So definitely getting some more! LOL at the Granny Chronicles! I don’t really love the granny panties but they do come in handy from time to time!
So at the age of 36 I really just started getting into makeup…it is so ridiculously hardbfornmento apply…however in certain settings, it feels like I am the only with no makeup andnI feel naked so I figure I will try some here and there….
As a married woman, I do still pay attention to my appearance! Do you see the temptation out there??? I can’t have my husband coming home to raggedy Anne! I am sure the Proverbs 31 woman dressed herself I fine linen mostly for her husband and the fact that she was a virtuous woman!
Thanks Kim! This series has been a blessing!
Girl I am cracking up at “As a married woman, I do still pay attention to my appearance! Do you see the temptation out there??? I can’t have my husband coming home to raggedy Anne!” OMGoodness, HOLLERING!!! It reminds of the song that was playing in the beginning of one of my favorite moves “The First Wives Club.” The song went something like “don’t sit home all day wearing the same clothes, don’t let your husband come home and see you with curlers in your hair.” LOL
Kara, I’m cracking up too at the same quote….”As a married woman, I do still pay attention to my appearance! Do you see the temptation out there??? I can’t have my husband coming home to raggedy Anne!”….you are so cute! Ha….yes, we definitely want our husbands to look forward to coming home to US! :) So you’ve gotten into pantyhose too, huh? Cute and sassy?? I guess I need to see what’s out there, but just the thought of pulling up pantyhose on my leg does something to me (must be memories of getting up and going to work)! LOL I feel you with the makeup. In my day-to-day, I rarely wear it. But in the last couple of years, I’ve gotten some staple things I like, and now that I’ve cut my hair, I’m playing with them more. :)
Wait….this cracked me up too…”I don’t really love the granny panties but they do come in handy from time to time!” You are hilarious! And what makes it more funny is that your voice is so light. We really need to all get together somewhere, somehow….
So glad you found the series a blessing. That blesses me!
Hey Yall!!!! Yeah, I sure do Rock it, All the time, to say the least. It’s a hard job being a Diva but someone has to do it, lol! Anywho, I am at work and had a free sec, but I couldn’t watch the video yet because Im in the classroom with kiddos. But I just saw the words, ROCK IT and couldn’t wait to give my feeback. Nothign about me is simple, I always do it big. My model is Go Big or Go Home! I can wear something like a simple white tee and some dark denim jeans and make it pop with hot pink, orange and loud coral accesories. Fat rings, lous necklaces and some cute studs. Im a purse, accesory fanatic. Shoes, not so much. When your feet hurts, your heart hurts, so I always wear real comfy shoes. Semi Cute, but extra comfy! As a plus single sista, I am always concerned about how I look. I want to reprseent the plus sized, the single and the Chrstians all well. And many time I do. When I’m having a bad hair day or not the right accesories I will be feelnig a little self consciouss. Many times I do well with self image! Love yall!@
ROCK IT!
Hey Kristian!!! “Go Big or Go Home”….alright now, Miss Diva!!! Love that you know how to make a simple white tee and denim jeans POP with accessories! That truly takes a certain flair. Also love the pink, orange and coral! Colors like that are cute and fun. I hear you on the comfy shoes. I do not do high, high heels. And on “regular” days, I’m in sneakers or flats. ;-) I think it says so much that you want to represent plus sized, single, and Christians well….wow, Kristian. That’s awesome that you regard your image that way. Thanks so much for stopping in during class to add your DIVA-ness. :) Love you too!
I really enjoy rocking the external. I do keep it simple during the week, because I do work with children. I won’t wear any make up or jewelry at work. Just a tee and jeans.
When I’m not working I love to dress it up. My style is casual chic with a blend of natural colors. I love wearing jeans and skits with a blazer with loafers/flats/sneakers. I may wear a heel or pump every now and then and a very very very large purse. I also love silk blouses, cardigans sweaters(small to over size ones). I love wearing dresses too. I also enjoy my accessories, I love my watches, necklaces, rings and scarfs and just recently hats.I must admit that when I get dressed to go out, I tend to show some cleavage but not a lot. It’s also a must that I get my eye brows waxed every 3 to 4 weeks and my hair done every 2 weeks. Some say I’m high maintenance. LOL
I do get some comments about the way I dress. My friends say I dress like an old lady that I should show more cleavage to get a man’s attention. Or that I should dress more hip.( whatever that mean)My family on the other hand say I dress like a “white girl” LOL always crack me up. I just tell them that this is my style and that I feel comfortable and relaxed in what I want to wear. So yeah I rock it to the fullest.
Ciara, I love that you know exactly what your style is, and you obviously Rock It! (I see a lot of us stay away from high heels! lol) I love the casual chic style, and I know you look too cute in your outfits, accessorized with your very very very large purse! :) I wish I could get into scarves (my mother has tried over the years to pull me in :)) and I’m not much of a hat person….but I always admire those things on other women. And I get my brows waxed every 4 weeks too! (I have to, or my brows grow really wild.)
Shaking my head that you get those same type of comments. “I just tell them that this is my style and that I feel comfortable and relaxed in what I want to wear.” You go, girl! LOVE. IT. I’m over here smiling, thinking about your post on the first week of the image series and this one now. Praise God for where He’s brought you. Keep rockin’ it, my sister!
Another point of view: I am “style challenged,” always have been, probably always will be. My young daughters are NOT! I’m reading your blog, preparing my mind, heart and spirit to guide my girls on a quest to honor the LORD with their God given *flair*. It’s good for me to hear from you- and your readers that fashion is fun :) and can be done for His glory.
Leanne, it’s so cool that you you recognize your daughters have a God given flair and you want to guide them in that. It can and will be a fun journey for all of you, for His glory. What a fantastic way to honor their God-given bent and enjoy some girl time in the process! I love that!
Woman!
I’m catching up on all my Kim Cash Tate’s and love what you’ve been teaching! For the past two months I have not been rocking it, I’ve been recovering from influenza and pneumonia – my days have been spent in pajamas, mostly sleeping. Fortunately, I’m much improved and getting my fashionista-self back, yippee! I enjoy clothing, moreover, I like looking good for my husband (and myself). But I keep my external self in check by asking on occasion WWTWONC do? In long form: What Would The Wife Of Noble Character do? So long as I am providing for my family, being diligent in spending, volunteering, consulting God and such and so on, I do not worry about my emphasis on the external. But, when self evaluating, if I admit I’m falling short of being a Proverbs 31 wife, that’s my warning that I’m focusing too much on the external world, my external looks included. Being the best I can be outside, so long as it doesn’t affect my relationship with God (or my credit card) (or my vanity) is fine – but it is true ” . . .beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”
