Celebrating love—real love
I’m debuting my redesigned blog today with the theme, “Color your perspective in Christ.” And because it’s Valentine’s Day, you know what color was just begging to be featured—
RED. For Love.
But not a “February 14” kind of love. Let me explain…
I was at Opryland in Nashville over the weekend, and on Saturday night, some friends and I tried to make reservations for dinner. Finding it difficult, it dawned on us that couples were out celebrating Valentine’s Day. At the reminder of “the day,” one friend called it, “Black Monday.”
I didn’t ask her what she meant. Didn’t have to. My friend is a single adult. And Valentine’s Day is all about love. A “love” marketed like crazy by Hallmark, FTD, and Kay Jewelers. A love that causes people to measure their worth by who they’re with (or not with) and what they get. A love that focuses on “the day.”
That’s a perspective just begging to be colored. Real love—God’s love—leaves no one feeling excluded. It’s an “always” kind of love. A love that doesn’t care what we look like, what we have, what we do, or what we’ve done. A love that hugs, listens, and cares. A love that knows all of our favorite things. A love that commits and will never let us down.
If today feels like Black Monday as you watch others celebrate “the day,” remember that that celebration ends at midnight. But tomorrow, the next day, and every other day following, the real love celebration continues . . . and beckons.
So I’m wondering . . . do you stop to think about (and maybe even celebrate) God’s deep love for you? Do you color your perspective red, no matter what?

Awesome!!! God’s deep love is SO AMAZING and I pray for the grace to be rocked by it daily!
Gessie, all I can say is, YES!!! Love the way you put that…I’m joining you in that prayer for the grace to be rocked by God’s deep, amazing love DAILY! His love changes everything!
I used to HATE Valentine’s Day as well. One year, I decided to embrace the day and celebrate other people who loved the day. Then, as I grew closer and closer to Christ, the day took on a whole new meaning for me. I dubbed myself “His lady in red” to celebrate all that His love means to me.
Ooh, Tamara, Iove that! What a way to celebrate Christ’s love…”His lady in red.” And what a way for the Lord to redeem that particular day for you in such a way that you could make it just between the two of you. I love how God is such a personal God.
I even wrote an article about it a few years ago with the same title. I used to write for an online e-magazine called WOW! Magazine(Women of the Word). I’m planning to do something really special for my single friends next year surrounding His Lady In Red. :o) They are going to be surprised beyond belief.
God is very personal. I am not sure if you read the e-mail I sent to you about my reading testimony, another way He moved personally for me in regard to books.
